1. Overview

MyTaxWriteOffs ("we," "our," or "us") is operated by Level Up Health Solutions LLC. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our website and application at mytaxwriteoffs.com (the "Service"). Please read this policy carefully. By using the Service you agree to the practices described here.

2. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you register, we collect your email address and any profile information you provide (name, business name, profession).

Financial Data via Plaid

We use Plaid Inc. to connect your financial accounts. When you link a bank or credit card account, Plaid transmits the following data to us on your behalf:

  • Transaction history (merchant name, date, amount, category)
  • Account information (account type, last four digits of account number, institution name)

We do not receive your bank login credentials. Those are entered directly into Plaid's secure interface and are never transmitted to or stored by MyTaxWriteOffs.

By connecting your financial accounts, you also agree to Plaid's End User Privacy Policy.

Usage Data

We automatically collect certain information about how you interact with the Service, including IP address, browser type, pages visited, and timestamps. This data is used to improve the Service and diagnose technical issues.

Cookies

We use essential cookies required for authentication and session management, and optional analytics cookies to understand how the Service is used. See Section 8 for details.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect solely to:

  • Provide and operate the Service (identifying potential tax deductions from your transactions)
  • Authenticate your identity and maintain your account
  • Communicate with you about your account, updates, and support requests
  • Improve and develop new features of the Service
  • Comply with applicable law and respond to lawful requests

We use AI-assisted categorization (powered by Anthropic's Claude) to analyze your transaction descriptions and suggest potential tax deductions. This processing is automated. No human at MyTaxWriteOffs reads your individual transaction data except when you contact us for support and explicitly share it.

4. We Do Not Sell Your Data

We do not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise disclose your personal or financial data to third parties for their marketing or commercial purposes. Your financial data is used exclusively to provide the tax tracking features of the Service.

5. Data Sharing

We share data only with the following service providers, strictly as needed to operate the Service:

  • Plaid Inc. — financial account connectivity. Plaid Privacy Policy
  • Supabase Inc. — database and authentication hosting
  • Anthropic PBC — AI transaction categorization (transaction descriptions only, no personally identifiable information)
  • Stripe Inc. — payment processing for Pro subscriptions. Stripe Privacy Policy
  • Vercel Inc. — website hosting and content delivery

We may also disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of MyTaxWriteOffs, our users, or the public.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account and transaction data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal and financial data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

You may request deletion of your data at any time by emailing privacy@mytaxwriteoffs.com.

7. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including:

  • TLS/HTTPS encryption for all data in transit
  • Plaid access tokens stored server-side only, never exposed to client-side code
  • Row-level security enforced at the database layer (Supabase RLS)
  • Authentication via Supabase Auth with secure session management

No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at security@mytaxwriteoffs.com.

8. Cookies

We use the following types of cookies:

  • Essential cookies: Required for login sessions and security. Cannot be disabled without breaking the Service.
  • Analytics cookies: Optional. Used to understand aggregate usage patterns. You may opt out via our cookie banner or browser settings.

We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

  • Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your personal data
  • Portability: Request an export of your data in a machine-readable format

10. California Residents — CCPA Rights

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) grants you the following rights in addition to those in Section 9:
